Charity The Trussell Trust has started an experimental study in which, alongside the provision of emergency food, foodbanks deliver debt and budgeting advice. The six month scheme titled More than food has transformed six locations into “community hubs” offering “more holistic support.”
The study addresses the 7.29% of Trussell Trust clients using foodbanks because of debt, and the many others listing debt as a secondary cause. The charity will unite with budgeting and debt advisories including the Citizens Advice Bureau.
The advisory service will expand to other Network Member Foodbanks in autumn 2015.
